Four Fab Snacks for Back-to-School

By Joyce Shulman August 18, 2015
I know this doesn't reflect well on my parenting skills ... but I have been known to throw cookies and crackers in my kids' lunchboxes. But this year, I'm going to plan ahead! The trick is having great, healthy, yummy snacks, that my kids actually like, on hand every morning. Here are my top four picks for this back to school season.

Popchips

Popchips has been a longtime sponsor and FOM ("Friend of Macaroni"). We love that their chips are popped and not fried and we love the wide and ever-growing flavor choices. And this year, the bar is being raised for back-to-school snacking with new packaging featuring characters from Frozen and Star Wars. Helping kids everywhere pop back to school.

Chia Squeeze

You can't turn around without finding another kids' snack in a squeeze tube. Every kind of fruit puree and more yogurt than we can count. Why? Because kids love them! And we just discovered one that is super special ... Chia Squeeze from Mamma Chia. We've been chia seed fans for a long time and Mamma Chia has infused organic fruits and veggies with these super-seeds in six fab flavors. Maddie's favorite? Blackberry Bliss, but the Mango Coconut is a close second.

This Bar Saves Lives - This Kid Saves Lives

Years ago I had an idea to start a nutrition bar company which, for every bar purchased, would provide a bar to a child in need. But, I have a lot of ideas and not every one of them happens. So how excited was I to discover This Bar Saves Lives? Delicious all-natural, gluten-free, GMO-free, nutty, grainy bars. I am mad for the Dark Chocolate Cherry & Sea Salt, though Wild Blueberry Pistachio is really, really, really good.

New this year for back to school, they have introduced two new bars just for kids -- Chocolate Chip and Wild Berries. Still GMO and gluten-free, these bars also pass the no-nuts-in-school test. And help kids save lives.

Go Raw

Created by a father looking for healthy, delicious snack choices for his family, Go Raw snacks are simple, healthy, raw, organic, nut free, dairy free and gluten free. Yikes, it makes you wonder what's left! Not to worry, there is plenty to make Go Raw delicious. How 'bout Banana Bread Flax Bars (I promise, the kids won't notice the flax), Sprouted Watermelon Seeds, or Chocolate Coconut Crisps? Sorry kids, mom ate them all...
