Creating with Kids in the Kitchen

We discovered Foodstirs!

By Joyce Shulman November 17, 2015
A few weeks ago, my husband read an article that observed that many people in their 20s never learned how to cook. "I'm glad we're teaching our kids to cook," he commented.

Really? Sure, Maddie can make oatmeal from a package and Mason can construct a sandwich or scramble an egg in a pinch, but I don't think we have really been teaching them how to cook.

So when I recently connected with Sarah Michelle Gellar (yes, that Sarah Michelle Gellar) and learned about her new venture, Foodstirs, I was excited. Subscribe to the Foodstirs Baker's Club for $19.95 and each month a box will arrive with just about everything you need to bake a special treat, from cupcake cones to sugar cookies. Each offers a fun, creative project which means an hour away from the screens, time together and a little lesson in baking something yummy. Shhhh ... don't tell her, but I just clicked "purchase" on a subscription for one of Maddie's holiday gifts.

Watch as Maddie and I create Brownie Popsicles and share them with Mason and his friends.
