Ingredients:
String cheese
Wonton wrappers
Oil for deep-frying
Small bowl of water
Marinara or other sauce for dipping
Directions:
- Heat oil to approximately 375.
- Cut each string cheese into thirds, this could vary depending on size of wonton wrappers.
- Brush the edges of a wonton wrapper with water, I used my fingers for this.
- Place cheese in the center, roll, fold edges up, and roll again - see picture. Be sure cheese is completely encased.
- Set aside for frying and repeat for remaining wonton wrappers and cheese.
- A few at a time, fry for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown, flipping half-way through. Watch closely - frying a few seconds too long will cause the cheese to escape!
- Remove from oil and drain on a paper towel.
- Serve hot with dipping sauce of your choice.
Note:
You can cook these in small batches and reheat all at once on a sheet pan in the oven at 400 degrees. Again, be sure not to cook too long or the cheese will escape!
