Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

By Heather Wirtz July 19, 2016

A simple meal that can easily be made ahead of time for a large gathering or family picnic.

Ingredients:

3-4 pound pork shoulder

Spice rub - salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika

1 whole onion, sliced

1 cup water, broth or even soda (cola or root beer)

BBQ Sauce

Directions:

  1. Remove pork from packaging and rub down with a mixture of spices. If possible, let sit overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Add pork and onion to slow cooker and add liquid.
  3. Cook on low for at least 8 hours.
  4. Take meat out of the slow cooker and pull it apart (forks work well for this). Drain the liquid and place meat back into slower cooker.
  5. Add your favorite BBQ sauce and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
  6. Serve hot with coleslaw, beans, corn on the cob and fresh rolls!
