A simple meal that can easily be made ahead of time for a large gathering or family picnic.
Ingredients:
3-4 pound pork shoulder
Spice rub - salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika
1 whole onion, sliced
1 cup water, broth or even soda (cola or root beer)
BBQ Sauce
Directions:
- Remove pork from packaging and rub down with a mixture of spices. If possible, let sit overnight in the refrigerator.
- Add pork and onion to slow cooker and add liquid.
- Cook on low for at least 8 hours.
- Take meat out of the slow cooker and pull it apart (forks work well for this). Drain the liquid and place meat back into slower cooker.
- Add your favorite BBQ sauce and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
- Serve hot with coleslaw, beans, corn on the cob and fresh rolls!
