Hamburger & Cheeseburger... Cupcakes!

By Heather Wirtz September 20, 2016
Planning a birthday party or gathering? These burger cupcakes are sure to be the hit of the party! They are fairly simple to make and everyone will enjoy devouring these sweet burgers!

Ingredients:
Gold or white cupcakes
Chocolate cupcakes (you will need 1 for every 3 white cupcakes)
Yellow fruit chews
Red, green and yellow icing
Sesame seeds
Sugar

Other stuff you will need:
Piping bags
Small round tips for piping
Rolling pin
Cupcake wrappers

Directions:
  1. Slice white cupcakes in half, these will be the "buns". Slice the chocolate cupcakes in thirds, these will be the "burgers".
  2. Unwrap yellow candies and using a rolling pin, flatten it so it looks similar to a slice of cheese. If candy is too hard, place in microwave for about 5 seconds to soften. Set slices aside.
  3. Fill piping bags or small plastic baggies with colored icing - if using plastic baggie, slice a tiny hole in the corner. One of each - green, yellow and red.
  4. Mix 1/4 cup water with sugar in a small bowl until dissolved. Set aside.
  5. Starting with the bottom half of a white cupcake, pipe yellow icing to resemble mustard. Place 1/3 of chocolate cupcake on top of yellow icing, to resemble the burger. Top with a slice of yellow candy (cheese) and pipe red icing to resemble ketchup and green icing to resemble lettuce.
  6. Brush the top half white cupcake with sugar/water mixture and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  7. Place the top half of the cupcake on to complete the burger. Repeat the process for remaining cupcakes.
  8. Place completed "burgers" onto cupcakes wrappers and arrange on a platter. Enjoy!
