Two of my favorite foods in one! These "pizza filled" mushrooms were a hit in my house with kiddos and adults! You can serve these as an appetizer or side dish along with dinner. And a bonus, they are a healthier version of pizza and are naturally gluten free!
Ingredients:
Large white mushrooms, cleaned and stemmedMarinara sauce
Shredded cheese, Italian blend or pizza blend
Fresh basil, chopped
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Place mushroom caps on a parchment paper or foil lined sheet pan.
- Fill each mushroom cap with marinara sauce.
- Place mushrooms in oven for about 15 minutes or until mushrooms begin to soften. Time will vary depending on size of mushroom caps.
- Carefully remove from oven and top with shredded cheese.
- Bake for an additional 5-10 minutes or until the cheese is hot and bubbly.
- Once mushrooms are fully cooked, top with fresh basil.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
