Dessert in your slow cooker!

By Heather Wirtz November 21, 2017

A homemade dessert that won't take up room on the stove or in the refrigerator or oven, those spaces are in high demand during the holidays - this "cake" is made in your slow cooker!

Ingredients:

For the batter:
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2/3 cup sugar
4 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk
4 tbsp vegetable oil
4 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups chopped pitted fresh cherries (frozen cherries or canned cherry pie filling will work too)
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 cup dark chocolate chips
Non-stick cooking spray

For the cocoa mixture:
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
3 cups boiling water

Directions:
1. Spray the inside of a slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.
2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together all ingredients for the batter.
3. Spread batter mixture evenly into slow cooker.
4. In a separate bowl, mix together sugar and cocoa powder. Slowly pour in boiling water, mix well.
5. Pour cocoa mixture evenly over batter in slow cooker (do not stir).
6. Cover and cook on high for 4 hours.
7. Turn off cooker and let Black Forest Pudding Cake rest for 30 minutes uncovered.
8. Serve warm with whipped cream, non-dairy whipped topping or ice cream. Garnish with more chocolate chips and a cherry.

Note: this will not set completely like a cake, it is it a cross between cake and pudding.
