Recipes For Your Body

By Amanda Clabaugh, Treatments Manager at The Lodge at Woodloch June 25, 2013
Usually, Macaroni EATS focuses on foods and recipes to nurture the body from the inside out. But this month, with a little help from our friends from The Lodge at Woodloch, we thought it would be fun to explore recipes that work from the outside in!  Here are three great recipes to pamper your skin.

Rosemary Citrus Body Polish

1/2 cup fine sea salt
1/4 cup oil of choice (sweet almond, grapeseed, olive, coconut)
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 teaspoon dried, ground rosemary

Blend all ingredients and apply to dry skin.

This body scrub thoroughly exfoliates while providing an instant uplift and much-needed mental clarity!

Cooling Cucumber Mask

1/2 cucumber
1/4 cup milk (dairy or almond)
1/4 cup coconut oil

Warm oil on stove. Chop cucumber and place in blender or food processor with milk and oil. Blend until smooth. Apply to cleansed skin (face or body) and allow to set for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

This beautifully scented mask deeply hydrates, leaving the skin soft and silky all day.

Scrub for Sensitive Skin

1/2 cup ground almonds
1/3 cup oats
1 tablespoon dried chamomile
1 tablespoon dried lavender
1 tablespoon honey
Plain yogurt or milk (enough to make a paste)

Blend dry ingredients in food processor until they are slightly ground.  Mix all ingredients to make a paste and gently rub over skin to exfoliate.  Rinse with warm water.

This gentle exfoliant smoothes the face or body and helps heal dry, irritated skin.
