Grilled Ham Kabobs

with Pineapple, Green Peppers & Cherries

Grilled ham kabobs are a quick and easy summer meal and kids LOVE putting the ingredients onto the skewers! The kabobs can be personalized for your own taste too, switch out the peppers, pineapple and/or cherries for your favorite fruits and veggies!

You will need:

Ham steaks or thick cut deli ham (about 1/2" - 3/4" thick)
Pineapple chunks
Green peppers, cut into 1" pieces
Cherries
Wooden or Metal Skewers 

Directions:
  1. Cut ham steaks into squares, about 1" x 1".
  2. On a metal or wooden skewer, thread ham, green pepper, cherries and pineapple.
  3. Grilled over medium/high heat turning often, until heated through and kabobs have grill marks.
  4. Serve as is or with sweet & sour sauce below.

Sweet & Sour Sauce

Ingredients:

1 cup crushed pineapple
2 cups ketchup
¼ cup cider vinegar
½ cup chicken broth
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tsp cornstarch
 
Directions
  1. Dissolve the cornstarch in the chicken broth
  2. Combine chicken broth with all the other ingredients in a small sauce pan set over med-high heat.
  3. Bring sauce to a boil, whisking often.
  4. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Remove from heat, sauce should coat the back of a wooden spoon.
  6. Serve warm.
