Nine Things to do with Halloween Candy

By Heather Wirtz October 17, 2017

Going door-to-door dressed in a costume with family and friends is fun, but the highlight of Halloween for most kids is all of the FREE CANDY! Depending on the amount of candy that each kiddo collects, even the most die hard candy fan can get overwhelmed after digging through their bag of treats (plus most parents would rather their kiddo not eat everything at once).

Here are 9 ideas to help use up the candy other than eating it all straight from the bag:

1. Make your own trail mix - chocolate, candy corn, raisins, pretzels and other goodies!
2. Add a piece of the chocolate to your coffee or hot chocolate.
3. Use it as an ice cream topping or mix it into a milkshake.
4. Bake it into cookies, cakes and brownies.
5. Learning fun! Count, sort and graph the candy. Compare with siblings and friends.
6. Use it for other holidays - save it for decorating a gingerbread house and use the wrappers for Christmas cards or other craft projects.
7. Save the candy to fill a piñata for someone who has a fall or winter birthday.
8. Donate it or find a Halloween Candy Buyback program in your area.
9. Adults only - Have some friends over and sample different candies and chocolates to see what pairs well with different wines and other drinks.
