Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

By Heather Wirtz January 19, 2017

These are possibly THE BEST chocolate chip cookie bars I've ever made or tried! Thick, chewy and if you are impatient like me and eat them before they cool, nice and melty too! The best part, they are super easy to make - I am alllll about simple, easy recipes! These are perfect for bake sales, cookie trays and make a great dessert for a crowd. Want to WOW your family or dinner guests, serve these warm and top with some ice cream, hot fudge and caramel sauce!

Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
12 tbsp butter (1 1/2 sticks), melted and cooled
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups chocolate chips - we used 1 cup milk chocolate and 1 cup semi-sweet

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Line a 9×13 baking dish with parchment paper or foil and coat with cooking spray.
  3. Combine flour, salt, and baking soda together in medium bowl; set aside.
  4. Mix the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar in a large bowl until combined.
  5. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla; mix well.
  6. Add the dry ingredients into the butter/egg mixture and stir until combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  8. Press cookie dough evenly into prepared baking dish.
  9. Bake for approximately 28 minutes. The top will be a light golden brown and the edges will start to pull away from the side of the pan.
  10. Carefully remove bars by lifting the sides of the parchment paper, let cool (if you are patient enough) and then cut into squares.
