Caramel Apple Sangria

By Heather Wirtz November 17, 2015

One of my very favorite cocktails is sangria, but most times it is considered a summertime drink (not that it matters to me). Any combination of caramel and apple is also a favorite of mine. So after thinking about it, I experimented a little and combined a few of my favorite things... the result is a delicious sangria fitting for fall/wintertime and perfect for holiday parties!

Want to make a family-friendly version? Leave out the wine and vodka, just adding some sliced apples to cider can make it a special treat. You could also add some caramel or caramel flavor to the cider and apples.

Caramel Apple Sangria

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of white wine, we used Pinot Grigio
  • 1 cup caramel vodka
  • 6 cups apple cider
  • 3 apples, thinly sliced
  • Caramel sauce/topping, for garnish - optional
  • Brown sugar, for garnish - optional

Directions:

  1. Combine wine, vodka, cider and apples in large pitcher or bowl, mix well.
  2. Refrigerate for 2 - 3 hours or until ready to serve.
  3. Serve over ice and enjoy!
Want to wow your guests, with a fancy (and tasty) glass?
  1. On two separate plates, place some brown sugar and caramel (depending on the type of caramel you are using, you might have to heat it a bit first).
  2. Dip empty glass in caramel until rim is coated and then dip the caramel-coated rim onto the brown sugar.
  3. Carefully fill with ice and sangria.
You can also use a mixture of cinnamon and sugar instead of brown sugar. This is delicious with hard cider and pumpkin beer too!
