Salt and Black Pepper Popcorn

By Heather Wirtz January 19, 2017

Once you make popcorn on the stove top, you will wonder why you ever bothered with those pesky microwave bags. Stove top popcorn is fun and much tastier to make. We seasoned ours with coconut oil, salt and pepper... but the options are endless!

Ingredients:
2/3 cup popcorn kernels
2 tbsp coconut or canola oil, we use coconut oil
1 tsp sea salt
1-2 tsp black pepper

Directions:

  1. Heat a large, heavy pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the oil and let it melt.
  3. Place 2 or 3 kernels into the pan and wait for them to pop. Once the those kernels have popped remove them from the pot.
  4. Now add salt, pepper and the popcorn kernels into the pan and stir to completely coat kernels with oil. Cover pot leaving a small space for the steam to escape.
  5. After the kernels start popping, carefully watch/listen. Shake the pot every 10-15 seconds.
  6. Once the popping slows down, remove the pan from heat and carefully stir with a big spoon.
  7. Add more salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Pour into a bowl and serve warm!
