5 School Day Breakfast Hacks

By Heather Williams February 21, 2017

Quick and easy... exactly what comes to mind for most parents when thinking about breakfast, especially when rushing around in the morning during the school year!

Here are 5 "hacks" to help make your morning simpler while still having a homemade breakfast on hand for your kiddos.

  • One of my first choices for breakfast is an omelet, but most mornings there is no extra time to make one from scratch... instead try these Mini Baked Omelets. You can make them the night before or even a few days in advance. Serve them with toast or turn the mini omelets into a breakfast sandwich on the go!
  • Do you enjoy oatmeal but would rather not have instant? This Overnight Oatmeal recipe will be waiting for you once everyone is ready in the morning. You can even pack this up in something that will keep it warm to eat on-the-go or at the office.

  • I've yet to meet a kid that doesn't like cookies... this Oatmeal Breakfast Cookie recipe is one of many different breakfast cookie variations. These are great served with a glass of milk or if you are in a rush, perfect to eat on the way to school or work!

  • If oatmeal or eggs are not your first choice, whip up some of your favorite pancake batter and make a bunch of pancakes the night before. Wrap in single portion sizes and they just have to be reheated quickly in the morning.
  • A lighter option would be some yogurt with fruit and granola or yogurt and fruit smoothies. Have all ingredients washed, cut up and/or portioned, with the proper prep these creations will take only a few minutes in the morning!
