This dessert is great for a crowd and sure to impress your family and guests.
What you will need:
1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients as called for on the box)
3 cups chocolate pudding
16 oz whipped topping, thawed
6 oz chocolate wafer cookies (chocolate graham crackers would work too)
8 oz bag of toffee bits
Chocolate sauce
Caramel sauce
2 toffee candy bars, optional - this is for garnish
Prep work:
1. Prepare and bake cake as directed on box.
2. After baking is complete, it is time to chop up your masterpiece! Just take a knife and cut the cake into cubes. No need to be neat or exact. This can be done right in the pan it was baked in.
3. Let cubed cake sit until cool.
4. Crush chocolate wafers/grahams.This can be done in a food processor or by placing them in a plastic baggie and crushing them with a can, rolling pin, etc.
Time to create:
1. Place 1/3 of the cake into the bottom of a trifle bowl.
2. Drizzle with chocolate sauce and caramel sauce.
3. Top cake with 1/3 the crushed cookies and about 1/3 of the toffee bits.
4. Spread 1 cup of pudding on top of the cookies/toffee.
5. Layer 1/3 of the whipped topping on top of the pudding.
6. Repeat steps 1-5 two more times. The top layer of whipped topping should completely cover the surface.
7. Decorate top with chocolate sauce, caramel, toffee bits and broken toffee candy bar pieces.
8. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.
