A giant skillet cookie loaded with chocolate, doesn't get much better than that... does it? It could! Take a piece of the warm giant cookie and top it with ice cream and your favorite sundae toppings. I promise you will not find a better dessert, not even from your favorite restaurant - I have proof... this was made trying to replicate a popular restaurant dessert!
Ingredients for cookie:
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
6 tbsp butter, melted and cooled + 1 tbsp butter, for skillet
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips - we used milk chocolate and semi-sweet
10" cast iron skillet
Ingredients for sundae:
Ice cream
Chocolate sauce
Caramel, optional
Peanut butter or Sunbutter, optional
Whipped cream
Directions for cookie:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a cast iron skillet over medium heat and set skillet aside.
- Combine flour, salt, and baking soda together in medium bowl; set aside.
- Mix the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar in a large bowl until combined.
- Add the egg and vanilla; mix well.
- Add the dry ingredients into the butter/egg mixture and stir until combined.
- Fold in 3/4 cup chocolate chips.
- Carefully press the cookie dough into the skillet.
- Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup chocolate chips on top of dough.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is a light golden brown and edges are golden brown.
- Let cool for about 10 minutes, then it is time to build your sundae!
Directions for sundae:
- Carefully cut a piece of warm skillet cookie and place on a plate. Or if you are feeling adventurous - build a shareable sundae in the skillet.
- Top with ice cream and your favorite sundae toppings. We used a combination of chocolate sauce, Sunbutter and whipped cream.
- Most important - serve immediately and dig in!
If by chance you do not finish this giant cookie in one sitting, you can reheat it in the same pan at 325 degrees for about 5 minutes.
