Welcome Back Menu at IHOP with The Elf on the Shelf

By Erika Veduccio November 19, 2019

In our house, the chatter has started about “Yoshi,” our Elf on the Shelf.

The kids are wondering when he will show up, what tricks he will do, and where he will land each day. Last year’s favorite was when he dusted the counters in powdered sugar and left snow angels! This is such a fun and magical time of the year, and The  Elf on the Shelf makes it that much more special for so many families.

That’s why I was excited IHOP was getting in on the holiday fun this year with its new Elf on the Shelf menu, available now through Jan. 1.

I’m especially looking forward to the special IHOP Welcome Back Breakfast -- the world’s largest ever. The breakfast celebration will kick off #scoutelfreturnweek and IHOPs nationwide will celebrate between Nov. 29 and Dec. 1 with a special Elf-themed activity sheet that comes along with their meal.

The icing on the pancake? Kids ages 12 and under eat free after 4 pm every day through Jan. 1 with the purchase of an adult entree.

But I couldn’t wait for the Welcome Back breakfast to try The Elf on the Shelf menu! So I picked my son up from school one afternoon and surprised him by taking him to IHOP for a magical meal.

Those Scout Elves outdid themselves with IHOP’s The Elf on the Shelf Menu! It is so inventive and fun -- and delicious.

We tried:

Oh What Funnel Cakes.

My son loved the two golden crispy funnel cakes lightly dusted with powdered sugar, topped with glazed strawberries, whipped topping, and shimmery elf sprinkles.

Jolly Cakes

The Jolly Cakes were his ultimate favorite! The fluffy green pancakes were topped with sweet cream cheese icing, whipped topping, and shimmery elf sprinkles. He loved the crispy bite, sweet taste, and the whipped cream.

Merry Marshmallow Hot Chocolate

The Merry Marshmallow Hot Chocolate was just decadent. The rich hot chocolate is flavored with toasted marshmallow syrup and topped with whipped cream and shimmery elf sprinkles. My son couldn’t get over the sweet hot chocolate followed by the fluff of the whipped cream.

We were too stuffed to try the rest of The Elf on the Shelf Menu -- but will definitely go back because they sound so good!

There’s the Holiday Ham & Sausage Omelette, a fully-loaded omelet with diced ham sausage, fire-roasted peppers and onions, hashbrowns, and jack and cheddar cheese, then topped with more diced ham and sausage, cheddar cheese, and white cheddar cheese sauce.

There’s also the Little Elves Combo, which is your choice of one Jolly Cake topped with cream cheese icing, whipped topping, and sprinkles, or one Oh What Funnel Cake topped with powdered sugar, whipped topping, and sprinkles with one scrambled egg, one bacon strip, and one pork sausage link.

The Elf on the Shelf menu at IHOP is a great way to get in the holiday spirit this year. As my son told me, “Mom, it's like the magic is just coming alive through the food!”
