3 Ways to Make Brussels Sprouts That Your Family Will Love

Not your mama's Brussels sprouts!

Brussels sprouts are that one veggie growing up that I always cringed when my mom announced it as a side for dinner. "Ick" was always my first response. 

Now that I have a family, I am always trying to broaden their overall exposure to veggies, especially green ones! My family has fallen in love with these three versions of Brussels sprouts and I hope your family will too.

Bacon & Balsamic Brussels Sprouts with Cranberries

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 pounds of fresh Brussels sprouts, cut in half
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion or shallots
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 4 slices of bacon, cooked and chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine olive oil, vinegar, and cranberries and set aside for 10 minutes to soften berries.
  3. Melt butter in the microwave.
  4. Add all ingredients to bowl and toss well.
  5. Transfer and spread evenly onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until Brussels sprouts are soft and have golden edges.

Cheesy Brussels Sprouts

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 pounds of fresh Brussels sprouts, cut in half
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 1 tablespoon basil
  • 2 cups of shredded parmesan or mozzarella 
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. Melt butter in the microwave.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine and toss all ingredients.
  4. Transfer and spread evenly onto the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until Brussels sprouts are soft and have golden edges.

Apple Cider Vinegar & Mustard Brussels Sprouts

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 pounds fresh Brussels sprouts, cut in half
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. Melt butter in the microwave.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine all wet ingredients and whisk well.
  4. Add remaining ingredients and toss.
  5. Transfer and spread evenly onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until Brussels sprouts are soft and have golden edges.
