My family is working to be more environmentally friendly by finding ways to reduce our use of single-use plastics.
We've done great at switching to refillable water bottles. The next step for us? Finding an alternative for throwaway sandwich bags. I am embarrassed to admit how many plastic sandwich bags my family throws away on a typical school week.
So I was thrilled to find Stasher, a company created by mom Kat Nouri, that has developed the world’s first patented, self-sealing platinum silicone storage bag that is endlessly reusable.
You can tell these products were invented by a mom as they're so incredibly easy to use: Their patented Pinch-Loc seal allows the bag to go safely from the freezer to the microwave, oven, or boiling water ... and they clean easily in the dishwasher.
Yes. All of that. Please.
Plus the Stasher bags are so cute. You can choose from a rainbow of 20 colors. We love the tropical Starter Kit, a colorful 7-piece kit that includes a range of sizes of bags. The largest is a stand-up mid-Stasher that holds 12 cups. The smallest star in the Stasher lineup is the Pocket, which holds 4 fluid ounces. It’s the perfect size to take small snacks like nuts on the go or to store freshly picked herbs. The Starter Kit also includes a half-gallon Stasher, two sandwich-sized Stashers, and two snack Stashers. All of the bags can be used again and again — for everything from meal prepping to packing school lunches, or even for storing backpack essentials.
I love that you can write on the Stasher bags with dry erase and chalk markers. Perfect to write my kids a note or joke for them to discover at lunch so they know I'm thinking of them. The bags wipe clean again with warm soapy water.

Making an impact
Kat Nouri created Stasher as a mission-driven company, which means Stasher gives a portion of every sale to nonprofits like the Surfrider Foundation, a group on the frontlines of studying and tackling the ocean plastic crisis.
The company is also tracking how many bags it has kept from being discarded. To date, the company says it has prevented over 1 billion single-use plastic bags from entering our oceans and landfills.
I feel really good about my family adding to that number and supporting Stasher's mission as we move toward a more environmentally conscious way of life.
